Relapse Prevention
RELAPSE OCCURS BECAUSE OF:
(1) failure to restore the brain and body to biochemical balance, (2) an imbalance of body energies, (3) the failure to work a recovery program and develop positive coping skills and attitudes for handling life challenges and (4) lack of support from family, friends, a role model or an involved sponsor.
At ARISE we address all of these aspect of recovery including Continuing Care Planning for the critical first twelve months following treatment.
1. DRY HEAT SAUNA DETOXIFICATION AND BIOCHEMICAL RESTORATION
The first part of recovery is to regain biochemical balance of the body and brain through micro-nutritherapy. Without this, relapse is almost certain. Even if drinking stops, craving and dry drunk symptoms often continue leading to eventual relapse. Even if relapse does not occur, biochemical imbalance creates a white knuckling approach to life and a one hour or one day at a time struggle to stay sober. Additionally, dry drunk behaviors negatively affect relationships and employment.
In ARISE Alcohol Recovery participants regain a healthy biochemical balance of body and brain through micro-nutritherapy, releasing dry drunk symptoms. Craving, anxiety, insomnia and depression are relieved naturally, without the use of medications. Energy and vitality are restored early in treatment.
A regular part of the ARISE program is dry heat sauna detoxification which provides extraordinary results by removing alcohol residuals which are stored in the fatty tissues and can create intense cravings for alcohol and depression, months and years after treatment.
2. ENERGY BALANCING
When the flow of energy within the body is blocked, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dis-ease occurs.
ARISE holistic healing modalities smooth out the energy system, release blockages and allow the free flow of energy leading to a naturally healthy body and mind.
At ARISE participants experience weekly, full body massages, therapeutic drumming, movement and stretching, Qigong, Tai Chi or yoga, walking and/or similar programs that begin restoring the body to health naturally.
Optionally, we sugggest, if appropriate, acupuncture, chiropractic, energy healing techniques and other alternative modialties to assist in full recovery from the addiction.
3. PROCESS MANAGEMENT
Clients are introduced to methodologies that gently and supportively uncover the hidden stories and mythologies that underlie the life choices they have made. Once uncovered, they can take responsiblity for their actions and learn how to make the choices that will create the healthy and wholesome futures they desire.
Clients experience compassion, self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-responsiblity, hope and faith. Learning how to use Meridian Tapping and Neuro Linguistic techniques, clients discover their inner strength and courage. With support and caring guidance, the process of emotional and mental recovery can be made without negative and painful consequences. Clients discover that healing can be a safe, even joyful release.
4. SUPPORT
Support for our residents is 100%. They participate in a family setting that is constantly looking out for their best interest. The resident’s family members may be included in the program if the resident requests it.
We do not recommend therapy or counseling during the first few weeks of recovery. Brain chemistry rebalancing is necessary before the addicted brain can regain focus, memory, concentration, and a sense of psychological safety.
The first six to twenty-four months of recovery are the most challenging and relapse prone. Each ARISE participant receives an Individualized Continuing Care Plan. Individual substance abuse counseling may or may not be necessary following the residential program.
